Car Shipping Gallery

Whether you're looking at shipping a car across the Tasman or elsewhere, importing a classic, a campervan or an RV from the United States, or if your business is motorsport related, GT International Logistics will take care of every detail for you.

No vehicle is too big or too small for us to manage. We ship all types of motor vehicles internationally to and from most destinations worldwide, whether a one-off sale or purchase or an event you need to attend.

How do I go about shipping my vehicle?

That depends where you want to ship your vehicle to, because regulations on importing and exporting motor vehicles differ for each country. However, there are common procedures in vehicle shipping:

  • Make sure your vehicle is thoroughly cleaned inside and out, ideally with a steam cleaner, to make sure all dirt and contaminants from the underside and engine bay are removed. If you don’t want to do this yourself we can organise this for you in select locations.
  • When shipping on a roll-on, roll-off vessel personal items must not be left in the vehicle or the vehicle will not be accepted on board. If you want to ship some personal belongings then we can load the car into a container for you, but this is generally a more expensive option.
  • If you’re taking out marine insurance - which we strongly recommend - then you need to make sure you have a pre-inspection report completed by an independent insurance assessor.

Once your automobile shipment arrives at its destination our office or specialist automobile shipping or Customs agent will contact you to discuss any additional details they may need for arrival procedures and clearance.

Is it worth shipping my automobile?

When arranging international car shipping, there are several costs you need to factor in to determine if it’s worth the time and money. More importantly in some countries, import permits and vehicle standards such as impact and emissions are pre-requisites for entry. Items you need to consider for car shipping include:

  • How much will it cost to ship my car to the destination?
  • What taxes/duties/GST/VAT will you need to pay at the destination country?
  • What are the on road compliance charges?

As an example, if shipping to Australia and your car is worth around NZ$7000 (AUD$ 5,600 / US$4,600) or more it’s generally worth looking into shipping it from an economics point of view. A lesser value might not make it viable.

Not bought your car yet?

If you haven’t bought your car yet then we suggest you talk to us first. We can give you an estimate for shipping costs and look into any compliance issues you may face. Different countries have different rules and regulations about importing/exporting vehicles and we can point you in the right direction.
